Camping
at Watkins Mill State Park
Watkins Mill has 96 campsites, 74 with electric hookups. Each site has a graveled parking pad, a picnic table, grill and lantern hook. Parking pads vary in length from 38 feet to 80 feet, with the electric sites having the longer pads. Five sites (three electric and two basic) are accessible for campers with disabilities. On-season (April through October) services include a showerhouse, coin-operated laundry and dump station. These facilities, along with the water, are not available during the off-season (November through March). Currently nightly camping fees can be found through Fees and Seasons on the right; nightly camping fees effective May 1, 2013, can be found by clicking here.
New Camping Option: Need a little extra space? Try one of the park's family campsites (sites 19, 42, 58, 85 and 90). Rates can be found under Fees and Seasons to the right.
Campsites 1-34, 98 and 99 are open year-round; campsites 35-97 are open during the on-season. Reservations are accepted for on-season stays. A small portion of sites are reservable year-round. For weekend reservations, there is a required two-night minimum stay of Friday/Saturday.
A woodlot is open in the evening during the on-season for campers to purchase wood. During the off-season, the fee collector will sell wood upon request. Campers planning to carry in firewood must comply with current firewood advisories.
Park Gate Information
The campground gate closes at 10 p.m. during the on-season. Campers need to be sure to arrive prior to gate closure time.
Special-Use Camping Area
A primitive camping area is available for organized youth groups from March through November. The area is divided into five sections, each with a picnic table and fire ring. The area has a vault toilet but no water. There is direct access to the bicycle trail. Groups interested in reserving a campsite in the special-use camping area should call 816-580-3387 during office hours. The special-use camping area is located on the east side of the facility and is accessed from Endsley Road.
