Dozens of individual picnic sites are located throughout the park. Most are situated along the shaded banks of the Big River or Coonville Creek, and most are located near restroom and drinking water facilities. Ample parking is provided, and several sites are accessible to people with disabilities.

Picnic Shelters

Plan your next family reunion, company picnic or other special occasion at St. Francois State Park. Two large picnic shelters may be reserved for $40 each. Shelter #1 has 10 tables and can comfortably accommodate up to 60 people. Shelter #2 has 12 tables and can accommodate up to 72 people. Water and electricity are not available. There are vault toilets close to the shelters.

Shelter Reservations

To reserve a shelter or check for availability, visit our reservation page* or contact the park at 573-358-2173. If not reserved, the shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

*Shelters can be reserved online from 30 days to 12 months in advance of the day of use. Reservations for arrival dates less than 30 days out can be made only by contacting the park.

Playgrounds

Four large playgrounds are located in the picnic areas and campground. Swings and slides are sure to please the youngest visitors.
