Temporary Closings and Notices (as of 2/9/10 9:07 a.m.)

This information is updated Monday through Friday. Because conditions can change rapidly, you may wish to call ahead to the park or historic site prior to making a visit in the near future.

Temporary Beach Closures

NOTICE:  Water within the designated swimming beaches in state parks and historic sites is tested for bacteria levels on a regular basis from the Monday preceding Memorial Day to the Monday after Labor Day.  In 2009, the last day for testing the water was Sept. 14.  Testing will resume on the Monday preceding Memorial Day in 2010.

Babler State Park --Alta Shelter closed due to fire damage
Big Oak Tree State Park --Boardwalk Trail is temporarily closed for repairs.
Castlewood State Park --Castlewood section of Chubb Trail due to a bridge outage
Lake of the Ozarks State Park --restroom in Campground Section 3 (next to campsite 70) closed for renovation
Knob Noster State Park --Opossum Hollow Trail
--McAdoo Trail and equestrian campground closed for repairs
Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site --The historic site is temporarily closed to the public for repairs in the museum.
Trail of Tears State Park --swimming beach from dam project; Sheppard Point Trail from flood damage
