Temporary Closings and Notices (as of 11/19/09 3:36 p.m.)

This information is updated Monday through Friday. Because conditions can change rapidly, you may wish to call ahead to the park or historic site prior to making a visit in the near future.

Temporary Beach Closures

NOTICE:  Water within the designated swimming beaches in state parks and historic sites is tested for bacteria levels on a regular basis from the Monday preceding Memorial Day to the Monday after Labor Day.  In 2009, the last day for testing the water was Sept. 14.  Testing will resume on the Monday preceding Memorial Day in 2010.

Castlewood State Park --Stinging Nettle Trail; lower portion of River Scene Trail; portions of Al Foster Trail
Graham Cave State Park --boat ramp
Grand Gulf State Park --stairs to access bottom of the gulf
Hawn State Park --first mile of Whispering Pines Trail (The remaining nine miles of the trail can be accessed from Pickle Creek Trail.)
Johnson's Shut-Ins State Park --north and south day-use areas
Jones-Confluence Point State Park --entire park
Lake Wappapello State Park --Allison Point day-use area (including boat launch and Shelter 2);old marina boat launch; all trails
Long Branch State Park --campsites 79 and 80
Pershing State Park --boardwalk
Mark Twain State Park --campground boat ramp

 

Temporary Project/Service/Repair Closures

Babler State Park --Alta Shelter closed due to fire damage
Castlewood State Park --Castlewood section of Chubb Trail due to a bridge outage
Lake of the Ozarks State Park --restroom in Campground Section 3 (next to campsite 70) closed for renovation
Knob Noster State Park --Opossum Hollow Trail
--McAdoo Trail and equestrian campground closed for repairs
Thousand Hills State Park --The picnic loop road is temporarily closed from the marina to the point picnic shelter.  During this time, the picnic shelters can be accessed through the upper day-use area entrance.  The closure is expected to last through November 2009.
