Special Use Area

at Mastodon State Historic Site

Although a regular campground for individual campers is not available, a special-use camping area with limited facilities is available for reservation by organized youth groups for a small fee. This area features vault toilets, water, picnic tables and fire rings. When not reserved, the area is open for general use.

Historic Site Grounds

  • 8 a.m. to one-half hour after sunset, daily, year-round

Historic Site Office

  • 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday
  • 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Sunday
  • Please note there will be times when the office is temporarily closed while staff are working on the grounds. The office telephone is monitored for messages during office hours.
