World Atlatl Day

6/1/2024 | Graham Cave State Park | Danville, MO

Join us for a journey through time as we celebrate World Atlatl Day at Graham Cave State Park. The Missouri Chapter of the World Atlatl Association will be on-site to share the history and use of this ancient throwing tool. Predating the bow and arrow, the atlatl was first used by humans in the Upper Paleolithic Period, and archaeological evidence suggests that it was used around the world.

If you have never heard of or used an atlatl, come on by, and we will show you how it’s done. No experience is necessary to participate, and there is no fee or registration requirement. All you need is a sun hat, a pair of closed-toe shoes, and some sunscreen and insect repellent. We will meet at the Lower Day-Use Area Shelter.

For more information, or to request an accommodation, call the park office at 573-564-3476.

Event time: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
