2019 Hero Hunt

at Mark Twain State Park

Mark Twain State Park partnered with the Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Office at Fort Leonard Wood to provide 15 soldiers an all-inclusive managed hunt starting Friday, Nov. 8, 2019.

The hunt featured various activities and shooting range practice, and provided the hunters with hunting guides. Missouri State Park Rangers were on hand at the range to assist hunters in becoming familiar with their weapons and firearm safety.

Hunters, guides and staff stayed at the Si Colborn Group Camp at Mark Twain State Park. The hunt concluded at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Hunters were allowed to harvest a total of three deer.

This was the second year for the managed hunt. Partnering with Fort Leonard Wood allows Missouri State Parks to provide an excellent recreational opportunity for the soldiers and help manages the deer population of Mark Twain State Park.
