Relax or enjoy a picnic lunch in the historic site's small picnic area, which has seven tables available.

Picnic Shelter

A picnic shelter, which accommodates 50 people, can be reserved for $40. It has electricity with water and restrooms nearby. If not reserved, it is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Shelter Reservations

To reserve the shelter, contact the historic site to check for availability by calling 417-751-3266. If available, fill out the Shelter Reservation Application and mail it to the historic site for approval. Submission of this application does not guarantee reservation of the shelter.

Temporary Hours of Operation

Tours at Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site are available Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Regular Hours

Summer Hours (On-Season)
April 1 through Oct. 31

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday
  • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday
  • The site is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Winter Hours (Off-Season)
November through March

  • 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday
  • 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday
  • The site is closed Monday through Thursday.

The historic site is closed Christmas Day and Easter Sunday.
