Pittsburg Side

Accessible SymbolPark Office

You will see the park office on your right as you enter the park. A handicap parking space is adjacent to the office entrance with pavement to the door. An outside information board is available for after-hours convenience. The nearest accessible restroom can be found in the campground showerhouse.

Accessible SymbolCampground

The wooded campground on the Pittsburg side of Pomme de Terre State Park has six electric campsites and one basic campsite that are accessible. All provide an extended-end table, pedestal grill, fire ring and lantern post. Conveniently located accessible water hydrants are found throughout the area. Three vault toilets have been modified for all visitors.

The showerhouse contains two rooms complete with side-transfer toilets, roll-in showers, lavatories with lever-handled faucets and electric hand dryers. Outside are an information kiosk, a water fountain and a bench overlooking the playground. Two parking spaces share an access aisle with a 2.4% cross-slope. The laundry is a large room with two top-control machines and a folding table; however, the threshold has a 5-inch step.

The campground’s dump station has not been modified for accessibility.

The amphitheater offers level, paved parking and a pathway with less than a 3% slope to the program area where several seating options are offered.

Camper Cabins

One of the park's four camper cabins is considered accessible. The accessible cabin has one bedroom and features electricity, heating and air conditioning. There is no running water in the camper cabins, but guests have access to the campground showerhouse, which is open seasonally from April through October. A vault toilet is available year-round.

Accessible SymbolYurts

Yurts A and B are accessible with level parking and an accessible ramp for those with mobility impairments. Outside each of these yurts is an extended-end picnic table, lantern post, pedestal grill and fire ring.

Marina

Parking is mostly level with one handicap space. To allow for lake fluctuations, parking is well above the water line. Visitors may use railed steps or follow the road, with a maximum slope of 7.5% for 20 feet, to access the dock. The slope of the railed gangway to the dock changes with the lake level. Two boat slips have been constructed for accessibility.

The two-lane boat launch is paved with a roughened concrete pathway. The average slope is 9.6%. The courtesy dock has a 3-inch step with no railings or curbs.

An accessible restroom is located on the marina entrance road and has one handicap parking space.

Marina Cabin

The marina cabin has not been modified for accessibility.

Accessible SymbolShelter and Picnic Area

An open shelter, seating up to 75 people, looks out over the lake and provides two level, handicap parking spaces, a water fountain, extended-end tables, a group grill, lights and an electrical outlet. An accessible individual picnic site is located across the roadway. A nearby vault toilet provides a handicap parking space and has a side-transfer toilet with grab bars.

Accessible SymbolBeach

The beach area provides two handicap parking spaces on a 4% cross slope. A shaded bench, situated to overlook the beach, is available for resting. For picnicking, a mostly sunny site provides an extended-end table and a pedestal grill. Located just up the hill above flood level is an accessible vault toilet.

Hermitage Side

This side of the park has not been modified for accessibility.

Park Office

Parking is asphalt with a 3.5% slope as you pull in. Spaces are not marked. The office does not have an accessible threshold and little room is available for maneuvering.

Picnic Area

A large paved parking lot with mostly level, unmarked parking serves this lightly wooded picnic area. All access is over natural turf.

Campground

One electric and one basic site, in this lightly wooded campground, are accessible and provide a paved pad with an extended-end table, a fire ring and a lantern post. An accessible water hydrant is conveniently located nearby.

The showerhouse has level, paved parking with paths to the entrance. Inside you’ll find front-transfer toilets, accessible lavatories, lowered mirrors and electric hand dryers. The paths leading to the showers have a 1-inch drop in height, which may be a barrier to some users. The showers are 3 feet wide with grab bars and benches. A large laundry room offers top-control machines.

Outside the showerhouse is a park information board. The campground dump station is located behind the showerhouse, but outside of the fresh water hydrant, has not been modified for accessibility.

The amphitheater is located at the end of the campground above the boat ramp. A paved parking space has an adjacent path leading to the seating area where several seating options are available.

The campground also has a playground but is has not been modified for accessibility.

Campground Boat Ramp

Paved parking has an average 3.8% slope with no level staging area. The four-lane ramp has an 8% slope. The courtesy dock has a paved pathway with a 4-inch step onto the dock. Vault toilets are located up the hill and have not been modified for accessibility.

Lake House

The lake house has not been modified for accessibility. It has three step-ups to enter.

Beach

The beach has paved, striped parking on an average 2% slope with the gravel immediately adjacent to it. No modifications have been made. The change house is not accessible. Picnicking is accessed over natural turf.

Boat Launch

The boat launch has paved parking on an average 4.3% slope with no level staging area. The three-lane boat ramp has a 7.4% slope. A courtesy dock nearby moves with the lake level and is accessed by a concrete ramp.

The vault toilets have paved pathways; however, the user will encounter 1-to-4-inch steps and little maneuvering room.
