World Atlatl Day

6/4/2022 | Graham Cave State Park | Danville, MO

Join us in the Lower Picnic Area at Graham Cave State Park to celebrate World Atlatl Day. Members of the World Atlatl Association will be demonstrating atlatl designs and dart- and spear-throwing techniques. The atlatl is a tool designed and used by early Native Americans for hunting with spears and darts. Additional partner activities will include flintknapping demonstrations, wildlife fur displays, and historical exhibits by the Montgomery County Historical Society and Graham family descendants. The World Atlatl Association will also host an International Standard Accuracy Contest between contestants, along with Moche Toss and other games. Preregistration is not required, and no experience is needed to participate.

Social distancing and masks are highly encouraged for visitors and participants who cannot maintain CDC-recommended guidelines. For special accommodations or more information, please call the park office at 573-564-3476.
