First Day Hike – Self-Guiding – History of Rock Bridge

12/7/2021 to 1/3/2022 | Rock Bridge Memorial State Park | Columbia, MO

Rock Bridge Memorial State Park, in affiliation with the Friends of Rock Bridge Association, encourages you to get out for a hike and to learn about some of the history of the park and the surrounding area. You can walk the 1.5-mile self-guiding history hike on Sinkhole Trail anytime between Dec. 7 and Jan. 3. Sinkhole Trail offers the opportunity to see some historic ruins, woodland, sinkholes, a pit cave entrance and the Rock Bridge, and to read 15 history signs displayed at points along the way. We will email to you a scavenger hunt of 12 questions to answer as you hike. Submit it by Jan. 3 to enter for a prize drawing. Those who answer correctly will be entered into the drawing. Four people will receive both a $30 gift card to spend in the park store, which features nature books T-shirts and souvenirs, and a free one-year individual membership to the Friends of Rock Bridge Association (receive a monthly e-newsletter). These prizes have been donated by the Friends of Rock Bridge Association.

Sinkhole Trail is of moderate difficulty, with some hills and dirt/rock/root surfaces, and starts and ends at the south end of the Devil's Icebox parking lot.

Registration for this event is required, and a sign-up link will be available here: https://icampmo1.usedirect.com/MSPWeb/Activities/Search.aspx.
