Bison Hike

11/7/2020 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO

National Bison Day is the first Saturday in November. This day is set aside to honor the bison as our national mammal. These 1-ton beasts once roamed the plains and prairies of North America 60 million strong before we nearly wiped them out. Come out to Prairie State Park on Nov. 7 for a guided bison hike at 1 p.m. and see the prairie in its autumnal glory.

Be prepared for a 2-mile hike over uneven terrain. Bringing water, snacks, a hat and sunscreen, and wearing sturdy shoes is recommended. Binoculars will be useful for looking at bison as well as other wildlife that we may see. Be sure to dress for the weather – the winds can be rather nasty. Don't forget your cameras!

Registration is required and limited to 25 people. Please call 417-843-6711 to register.

Hike Time: 1 p.m. - 3 p.m.
