National Trails Day

Come out to Washington State Park for National Trails Day 2024! We're celebrating by hosting a series of free, fun and educational activities.

Activities Schedule:

Petroglyph Tour – 2 p.m. at the petroglyph site

Park staff will offer a tour of the petroglyphs. Learn about the Mississippian-era carvings, the culture and community that created them, and possible interpretations. Enjoy a short stroll on a covered walkway with interpretive panels highlighting the cultural features. Learn about trails American Indians might have made and used.

Create a Hiking Stick – 4 p.m. at Thunderbird Lodge

Join us to make and decorate your own personalized hiking stick! Hang around and learn about trail safety tips and hiking gear recommendations.

How to Pack a Backpack – 7 p.m. at the amphitheater

Learn the basics of overnight camping on the trail! Join us for a fun conversation about backpacking and a demonstration of what you should pack to be prepared for a smooth trip. Sit back and enjoy anecdotal tales of backpacking adventures – if you have any stories of your own, feel free to share!
