Stream Survey

4/27/2024 | Mastodon State Historic Site | Imperial, MO

Help us round out our Earth Week initiative by taking part in a macroinvertebrate survey of Rock Creek! Representatives from the Department of Natural Resource's Stream Team program will teach us about creek ecology and stream health. Afterward, we'll head into the creek to identify water bugs and record our results. You will be helping conduct research that has a real impact on our local waterways!

This is a free interpretive program open to anyone 7 years of age and older. Participants can sign up for one of two sessions: 10-11:45 a.m. or 1-2:45 p.m. Registration is required, and space is limited to 20 participants per session. To register, call the site office at 636-464-2976.

This program will begin at the picnic shelter, located in the picnic area at 1800 Seckman Road. The program will involve hands-on work in the creek, so participants should wear shoes and clothing they don’t mind getting wet.

Session times:
  • Morning: 10-11:45 a.m.
  • Afternoon: 1-2:45 p.m.
