Bone Knife Making

3/2/2024 | Current River State Park | Salem, MO

Throughout 2024, Current River State Park will host a series of outdoor skills classes that will teach participants how to use all parts of a deer. The March 2 class will focus on using the deer’s leg bone to make a knife. This class will take place in the Shannondale Fire Tower Classroom and will go from 9 a.m. until about 3 p.m.

Participants should bring lunch and a drink, and they are highly encouraged to wear a mask while grinding the bone. Some masks will be available, but participants are also welcome to bring their own. All materials needed for making the knife will be provided, and gloves will be available for anyone who wants them.

This class is free and open to the public; however, registration is required, and there is a maximum of 20 participants. Participants must be at least 12 years of age.

If you have any questions, or if would like to register for this class, contact Connie at 573-751-1224 or Connie.Weber@dnr.mo.gov.
