Nature Journaling: Build a Journal

6/14/2023 | Knob Noster State Park | Knob Noster, MO

Knob Noster State Park, the Missouri State Parks Kansas City Area Office, Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site, and Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site are collaborating to bring you a three-program nature journaling series.

These programs are intended for people ages 12 and older and are designed to be attended in succession; however, these are not requirements. Each program will be different and will build upon the previous one.

Program Details:
  • June 14 – Build a Journal: Handcraft a journal and practice nature journaling techniques.
  • June 26 – All-Senses Journaling: Create like John Bothwell and practice journaling with all your senses.
  • July 10 – Journaling En Plein Air: Sketch like Thomas Hart Benton and practice journaling en plein air.

Programs will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Knob Noster State Park visitor center and are expected to last about 90 minutes. Participants are welcome to bring their own creative supplies, but some will be provided. These programs are free and open to the public, and there is no registration.

If you have any questions, please contact Chris Edmondson at Chris.Edmondson@dnr.mo.gov.

Program Times: 3:30 p.m. - 5 p.m.
