Night Hike: Island Cave

7/22/2022 | Ha Ha Tonka State Park | Camdenton, MO

Join us for an adventure to Island Cave after dark. We will experience the sounds of day as we head to the cave, only to emerge from the cave after dark to hear the sounds of the night. Island Cave is a wild cave, and we will explore the features of this unique natural resource.

The surfaces of the cave are slick and rough. To enter the cave, you must bring one light source (flashlight, headlamp, etc.), closed-toe shoes (sandals and other opened-toe shoes are not permitted), and full-length pants. Hard hats will be provided. Portions of Island Cave are very narrow, and the hike to, and exploration of, the cave is strenuous and only for individuals in good physical condition.

We will meet at the Spring Trailhead in the lake parking lot. To get to the lake parking lot from U.S. Highway 54, turn onto state Road D and continue for approximately 2.7 miles to Tonka Spring Road. The lake parking lot is located on the right.

Space for this program is limited, and registration is required. To register, call the park at 573-346-2986 or click here and search for activities at Ha Ha Tonka State Park.
