[Virtual] Landing After Hours: Missouri Surveying

11/3/2021 | Missouri State Museum | Jefferson City, MO

With the purchase of the Louisiana Territory in 1803, Americans claimed federal authority of the nearly 530 million acres in March of 1804 and needed a way to claim, purchase and record property. Join us on Facebook Live as we take a look into how Missouri was surveyed and how the pioneering surveyors divided more than 44 million acres of the Show-Me State, along with some stories from days gone by. Matt Thomas, the presenter, is a surveyor and comes from a long line of surveyors in central Missouri.
