How to Milk a Stone

5/21/2016 | Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site | Ash Grove, MO

Did you know the Nathan and Olive Boone home is painted with the same stuff that once covered the Egyptian pyramids? Whitewash goes back much further than Tom Sawyer. People have been making this remarkable paint from local limestone for more than 4,000 years. Join us as we brew up a batch of whitewash and talk about its recipe and history. Then, grab a bucket and brush and help us paint the Boone home fence. Remember to wear sunscreen and clothes appropriate for painting.

Event times: 1 p.m. - 4 p.m.
