World Atlatl Day

Join Graham Cave State Park and the Missouri Atlatl Association in celebrating World Atlatl Day and for the International Standard Accuracy Contest (ISAC). The atlatl is a weapon predating the bow and arrow, and is a stick with a hook on the end to hold a spear. The build of the weapon is designed to increase the distance, speed and force of the spear.

Admission to the park and event are free. The Missouri Atlatl Association will demonstrate and teach the use of the atlatl to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The ISAC, World Atlatl Day Team Competition, Moche Toss and other games will take place after 2 p.m. Visitors can try throwing darts using the atlatl and participate in the accuracy competition. Pre-registration is not required and no experience is needed to participate. Meet at the lower picnic area near the picnic pavilion.  For more information, please call 573-546-3476.
