Artist's Talk: Sculptor R. H. Dick, Creating "Sacajawea"

Sculptor R. H. Dick will discuss the research, design and creation of his piece “Sacajawea.” The bronze depicts four key members of the Corps of Discovery, whose expedition from 1803-1806 opened the American West. Dick will delve into his creative process beginning with early drawings, clay application and models, and finally the casting in bronze. “Sacajawea” and other works by Dick are on display in “Casting the Past: Missouri History in Bronze” in the Rozier Gallery. The artist’s talk will be held in the Missouri State Museum History Hall on the first floor, east wing of the Missouri Capitol. Following the talk, the museum invites visitors to see the exhibition in the Rozier Gallery at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site, which is located at 100 Jefferson St. The artist will be available to answer questions at the gallery.
