Labor Day Weekend Celebration

Friday:

7 p.m. - Meet and Greet The Naturalist, Campground Amphitheater
Meet the park naturalist! The naturalist staff will answer your questions about the park and nature in this meet-and greet-style program, which will last approximately one hour.

Saturday:

Noon - Petroglyph Glade Tour, Petroglyph Site
This guided interpretive walk highlights two of the park’s unique features. The walk begins with a tour of the ancient Native American rock carvings and will then venture out into the glade, where visitors will learn about life on this rare landscape. This walk will last approximately one hour.

2 p.m. - Naturalist Hour and Sidewalk Chalk Competition, Picnic Table next to Host Site
Participate in activities, learn about the park's natural history, or work on earning your Explorer Award. Then, take part in our Sidewalk Chalk Drawing Competition! Winners will be announced at 5:30 p.m.

4 p.m. - Summer Wildflower Walk, Petroglyph Site
A short hike along the petroglyph glade and trail areas will showcase the beautiful wildflowers of summer in full bloom. This is a guided hike with park naturalist staff to answer your wildflower questions and discuss the natural beauty of the park. This walk will last approximately one hour.

 6 p.m. - Bike Safety and Parade, Campground Amphitheater
Join park staff as they discuss all of the tips and tricks to make your bicycle riding adventure as safe as possible. Learn about safety equipment and habits of safe cyclists. Then, join us for a bicycle parade in the campground!

Sunday:

4 p.m. - River Bottom Walk, Thunderbird Lodge
A short hike along the 1,000 Steps Trail will give guests the chance to view a wide variety of plant life and learn about the history of Washington State Park and the young men who built it. The walk will then lead guests along the edge of the Big River to learn just how important this body of water is to the area around it. This walk will last approximately one hour.

6 p.m. - Volleyball Game, Campground
Park staff will host a friendly volleyball game in the campground. The game won't have a lot of rules but will have a lot of fun!

7 p.m. - Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest, Campground Amphitheater
Enjoy tasty watermelon provided at the campground amphitheater. Then, take part in a seed spitting competition! Can you spit the seed farther than your friends? See who will win the seed spitting competition.
