Kansas City Outreach: Tour of the Anderson House and Tea

Join Missouri State Parks staff for a trip to Battle of Lexington State Historic Site. A bus will be taken from the Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center (4750 Troost Ave.) in Kansas City.

The Anderson House, located at Battle of Lexington State Historic Site, was used as a hospital during the three-day Civil War battle in 1861. Participants will tour the Anderson House and museum. The museum exhibits artifacts from the Civil War era.

After lunch, a Victorian tea and dessert will be served. Lise McIntyre will give a short presentation on her traveling button museum. Materials hi-lighted in the collection include pearl, celluloid, art deco, uniform, enamels, picture buttons, West German glass and wood.

Registration is required and limited space is available. Contact Melissa at 816-759-7313, ext. 1162, to register. Please bring a lunch to enjoy outside. Coolers with ice will be provided for your use. Dress appropriately for activities and the weather.
