1/1/2014 | St. Joe State Park | Park Hills, MO
Meet the park guide at the Blankshire Trailhead parking area for some light "bushwacking" through the woods along a section of the Paved Bicycle Trail. The middle of winter is the perfect time of year for exploring the park woodlands, due to the absence of thick brush and parasitic pests. Sightings of deer, turkey or pileated woodpeckers are not unlikely. A combination of paved trail and forest exploration will will cover approximately two miles, with a complimentary offering of hot chocolate upon return. Note that all of the park's hiking, horse, bicycle, and all-terrain vehicle trails will be open on New Year's Day, and that park staff will have hot chocaolate available at the park office.
Hike time: 10 a.m.
Meeting location: Blankshire Trailhead on Pimville Road
