Shawn Cooper Art Exhibit

6/1/2013 to 8/14/2013 | Arrow Rock State Historic Site | Arrow Rock, MO

Shawn Cooper is a local artist from Sedalia. He started painting at the age of 4 and has not had formal training, other than a few art classed in high school. He enjoys experimenting with different types of painting and really enjoys acrylics and oils. Due to a birth defect, he has had to learn a different way of holding the paint brush in his hands. Cooper also really enjoys genealogy and while researching his family, he discovered that his ancestry dated back to the settlement of the Howard County and Coopers Fort located across the river from Arrow Rock. Cooper has displayed his artwork in many shows and fairs around central Missouri and has numerous pieces in private collections around the country. You can view his artwork in the small gallery in the historic site’s visitor center seven days a week. A “meet the artist” reception will be held on Saturday, June 1, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
