Visit the Mill, House & Museum
Tours are given daily except for New Year's Day,
Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Visitors may tour the fully equipped 1860 woolen mill and gristmill, the Watkins 1850 Classic Revival style house, and a number of outbuildings, including the summer kitchen, smokehouse, icehouse and fruit dry house. The Living History Program features an heirloom garden and minor breeds livestock. See tour schedule and events schedule for information on hours and tour fees.
The Visitors Center & Museum features
exhibits on the Watkins family, Watkins' Bethany farm, the
woolen mill and the impact of industrialization on every day
life in the 19th century. The facility office is
located in the visitors center, as is the Mill Store gift
shop.
A short distance away, the 1856 Franklin Academy and 1871 Mt. Vernon Church are located along the old state highway that also ran by the woolen mill.
