Wallace State Park
816-632-3745

Fishing

Fishing is generally done from the shore of six-acre Lake Allaman. Small boats and electric motors are permitted. The lake is not stocked.

Swimming

The former swimming beach is now a non-designated swimming area. This area is not buoyed nor is a lifeguard on duty at any time of the year. Persons entering the water do so at their own risk.

Other Amenities

Organized youth groups can reserve the park's special-use area. It includes three areas for camping, all of which have a vault toilet, water spigot and fire ring. Each camping area can accommodate groups of 40 to 50. For more information or to make a reservation, please call the park office at 816-632-3745.

Volleyball and horseshoe equipment is available for checkout at the park office. The volleyball court is located near the enclosed shelter and there are horseshoe pits at the campground amphitheater and both picnic shelters.

An amphitheater is located in the campground and features a variety of nature programs including films, walks, crafts games and talks. Nature programs are usually offered on Saturdays from Memorial Day to Labor Day. These programs are free and open to the public. Non-campers are invited to join the fun. Program schedules are normally posted in the park each week. To find out what programs are being offered, please contact the park office at 816-632-3745.

Picnic Area/Playground

Picnic sites are scattered throughout the wooded area of the park and near the lake, providing an excellent place to enjoy lunch.

For large family gatherings, the park has an open picnic shelter that overlooks the lake and an enclosed shelter with a range, refrigerator and hot water. The open shelter also has playground equipment and may be reserved for $30 a day, or if not reserved, the open shelter is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Use of the enclosed shelter is $35 per day and reservations are required.

To reserve a picnic shelter, please call the park office at 816-632-3745.
