Allison Cemetery Trail

  • Hiking

Length: 2.5 Miles View map

This trail provides an easy walk to the pre-Civil War Allison-Connor Cemetery. You can follow the trail as it meanders from the cemetery along the lakeshore. Traveling clockwise along the trail, you will go up a steep ridge near the end of your hike. The park’s shelter house No. 1 day-use area, with playground and restroom, is at the end of the climb. This part of the trail is shared with Lake View Trail, although those hikers will be going in the opposite direction. Two park benches offer resting spots, one at the cemetery and one on the steep shared section. Two additional trail accesses for this hike are located at the end of Cabin Road and at the day-use parking area. There are two white connector trails identified with white arrows for shorter hikes.

Asher Creek Trail

  • Hiking

Length: 2.75 Miles View map

This trail should be traveled counter clockwise on the hillside that stretches up Asher Creek Valley. It is just west of Asher Creek campground and can be accessed from the campground. During winter, the main arm of the lake is a designated waterfowl refuge, making Asher Creek Trail an excellent area for viewing wildlife. There are a few steep climbs on the trail but you are rewarded with an easy trek along the shore and a resting bench. Two picturesque footbridges are good photo opportunities. The connector trails provide opportunities for shorter hikes.

Access is from the day-use parking lot or another access adjacent to the shelter. A resting bench is located about a quarter of the way in, along a section that shares the tread with Allison Cemetery Trail.
