Hikers' Comments on Nyblad Trail
Stockton State Park

Month Hiked Comments from participants of the 2007 Trail of the Month Program
Comment: November 2007 I enjoyed spending time with my family on a nice fall day on a nice short trail.
Comment: November 2007 A very short trail. The view of the lake inlet was nice. It was just close enough for my daughter to throw rocks into the lake.
Comment: November 2007 This was a short, pleasant hike. We enjoyed walking under nature's canopy. My favorite part of this hike was listening to my husband's and daughter's laughter as they enjoyed each other's company on such a beautiful fall afternoon!
Comment: September 2007 This trail was a bit underwhelming to me. Maybe because it was the fifth trail my wife and I hiked in the last two days and we were tired, but it just didn't do a lot for me. There were a few cool sights though: the lone mushroom growing in a small patch of sunlight; the turtle with a mushroom-shaped mark on top of its shell and the little walkway out to the lake where we saw a lot of sailboats enjoying the summer breezes.
Comment: August 2007 The trail is along the lake between the two campgrounds. Watch for deer and a very large, very old oak tree.
Comment: August 2007 It was a nice open trail. We had a real good view of the lake. The paint brush flowers were blooming. We saw a lot of what we call snake doctors flying around.
Comment: July 2007 At the very start of the trail, I saw two young raccoons chasing and playing with each other. Once they saw me, they took off back into the woods. I really enjoyed how this trail followed the water's edge.
Comment: June 2007 It allows you to hike close the water's edge, however it was not worth the travel just to hike this trail.
Comment: June 2007 The hike was a nice shady hike through new woods. I made acquaintances with several seed ticks and a box turtle -- the turtle was not climbing up my leg though. I especially liked seeing the lake full of water with having had so many drought years.
Comment: June 2007 I was able to see the lake about 50 percent of the time from different areas. There were nice grassy areas along the hiking trail with an ample amount of trees for shady spots. There were many seed ticks and one lonely little box turtle. This hike was very easy on my knees because the ground was soft.
Comment: May 2007 Have fun stepping across the rocks crossing the small stream. Keep an eye out for deer. We saw two. Use bug spray! Hundreds of seed ticks were trying to hitch a ride home with us.
