Hikers' Comments on Lake View Trail
Long Branch State Park

Month Hiked Comments from participants in the 2007 Trail of the Month Program
Comment: October 2007 This was one of my favorite trails. It runs right along the lake along the side of a bluff. Great scenery with spots to just sit and relax and take it in. The leaves were just starting to turn when we walked it.
Comment: October 2007 This is a really nice park with play areas, picnic tables, benches with great views of the lake and a graveled easy trail that leads to a point out on the lake. Beautiful day and a great new picnic spot!
Comment: September 2007 The lake was cool. I saw a snake going across the trail.
Comment: July 2007 This was an easy, open gravel trail that leads to a point on the lake. The view was nice and the breeze welcome. Don't forget your sunscreen -- there is very little shade on this trail.
Comment: July 2007 Very flat; all gravel and in the direct sun the whole time. The trail leads out to the end of a little peninsula where there are a few benches and a nice view of the surrounding lake. Great for families, especially since the trail leads past a nice playground to stop and take a break.
Comment: July 2007 Walk to the lake view, sit down, relax on the bench and think how good you have it!
Comment: June 2007 Another fine trail along a pretty lake. The clue isn't quite halfway but if you continue, you end up at the tip of the peninsula and a great view of the lake.
Comment: May 2007 Be sure to go in the morning so you can listen to all of the birds.
Comment: May 2007 This gravel-covered trail is extremely easy. It leads to a beautiful lake view, then loops back to the parking lot. Though we were caught in a cloudburst, the trail was completely unaffected.
Comment: May 2007 This is an easy, flat trail that leads to the lake. There are benches at the end of the trail looking out over the lake that would be a perfect place to enjoy a picnic lunch.
Comment: May 2007 A gravel path runs next to a road, a playground and a picnic shelter. Out in the open, no shade.
Comment: May 2007 If you want to start at the beginning, park right after the dam on the right side. If you want to start it later on the trail and not miss the clue, start at the playground/shelter at the second right after the dam. This trail is very easy and worth going on past the clue point. The trail travels to the end of the peninsula and has several benches to enjoy the 180 degree view of the lake.
Comment: May 2007 If you're disabled or with someone who is, you can drive a little past the trailhead and park at the playground and shelter and start there. It's a rough, rocky path to the loop at the end, but there are plenty of benches there to relax and enjoy the picturesque view.
Comment: May 2007 This is a stroll on an open area gravel path that goes past a picnic area and out on a peninsula with some lake views and views of motor boats and jet skis (water lice) with a few open area flowers. Wish they would sow prairie flowers.
Comment: May 2007 Sunny, nice day for this easy hike.
Comment: May 2007 A very easy walk, open to the sun, and on gravel.
