SPEND AN EVENING WITH THE STARS AT
BATTLE OF ATHENS STATE HISTORIC SITE APRIL 26
JEFFERSON CITY, MO., APRIL 11, 2008 -- Take a tour of the night sky on Saturday, April 26, at Battle of Athens State Historic Site in Athens. "An Evening with the Stars" will begin with a program at 6 p.m. in the historic site's new picnic shelter. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the event is free and open to the public.
Members of regional astronomy groups will gather at the historic site to interpret and to explain the night sky. The evening will begin with an astronomy program, with sky viewing to begin immediately afterwards until 11 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to observe constellations, planets and other night sky phenomena through a variety of telescopes provided, or they can bring their own telescopes. Refreshments will be served.
Battle of Athens State Historic Site is located 10 miles north of Kahoka on Highway 81 and 4.5 miles east on Highway CC.
