MARK TWAIN BIRTHPLACE STATE HISTORIC SITE PLANS
INFORMATIONAL MEETING AND BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION NOV. 30

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., NOV. 19, 2007 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting Friday, Nov. 30, to discuss issues related to Mark Twain Birthplace and Union Covered Bridge state historic sites, both in Monroe County. The meeting will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site in Florida, Mo. In addition, Mark Twain's 172nd birthday will be celebrated with free admission to the museum and refreshments from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Representatives from Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site, which oversees both sites, will be on hand to answer questions and discuss the current status of both facilities. The public is invited to share comments about the facilities and services offered.

The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services offered in state parks and historic sites.

Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site is located one-half mile north of Highway 154 on Highway 107, east of Paris.
