OPEN HOUSE FOR LAKE WAPPAPELLO STATE PARK IS OCT. 20

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., OCT. 4, 2007 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an open house on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lake Wappapello State Park near Poplar Bluff in southern Wayne County. The open house is 9:30 a.m. to noon at one of the park's new camper cabins (#23), located in the park's Ridge Campground, and is open to the public.

Recent accomplishments at the park and the construction of new camper cabins for lodging guests will be highlighted during the informal meeting. Visitors may visit with key park staff and are invited to share comments on the park's goals, objectives and future plans. Light refreshments will be provided.

The open house is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that citizens have input on facilities and services offered in state parks and historic sites.

Lake Wappapello State Park is located 16 miles north of Poplar Bluff on Highway 67 and eight miles east on Highway 172 at Wappapello Lake in Wayne County.
