STORYTELLING EVENT TO BE HELD OCT. 13 AT ROARING RIVER STATE PARK
JEFFERSON CITY, MO., SEPT. 27, 2007 -- Visitors can meet at Roaring River State Park near Cassville for an evening of storytelling on Saturday, Oct. 13. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, this event will begin at 7 p.m. in the park's amphitheater and is free and open to the public.
Storytellers Champ Herren and Todd Wilkinson will tell you what's "Hidin' in the Haw Bushes," a program of Ozark legends, tales of the supernatural and folklore. Based on the writings of Vance Randolph and other noted local folklorists, Herren and Wilkinson will examine the unique history and culture of the Ozarks region through superstition, customs, tales and legends, as well as a good bit of local humor. In case of bad weather, the event will be held indoors.
