INFORMATIONAL MEETING TO BE HELD OCT. 11 FOR STATE HISTORIC SITES
JEFFERSON CITY, MO., SEPT. 27, 2007 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will host an informational meeting on Thursday, Oct. 11, to discuss issues related to Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home and Locust Creek Covered Bridge state historic sites in Linn County. The meeting will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the visitor contact point at Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site in Laclede and is open to the public.
Representatives from the department will be on hand to answer questions and provide information on present and future plans for the facilities. Discussions will include the improvements to Gen. Pershing's home as well as a proposal to construct the Pershing Memorial Museum and Archives. Members of the Pershing Park Memorial Association also will be present. Visitors are invited to share comments and suggestions about both historic sites.
The informational meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services provided in state parks and historic sites.
