INFORMATIONAL MEETING AND OPEN HOUSE PLANNED
OCT. 6 AT WASHINGTON STATE PARK

JEFFERSON CITY, MO., SEPT. 25, 2007 -- The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will hold an informational meeting and open house Saturday, Oct. 6, to discuss issues related to Washington State Park near De Soto. The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Thunderbird Lodge, with the public meeting beginning at noon at the picnic shelter in the Big River day-use area.

Representatives from the park will be on hand to provide information about the park and answer questions. Agenda items will include discussion on current capital improvement projects, recent land acquisitions and future plans for the park. The public is invited to share comments about the park and its operations.

The meeting is part of an ongoing effort by the department to ensure that the public has input on services and facilities in state parks and historic sites.

Washington State Park is located nine miles south of De Soto on Highway 21.
