ARROW ROCK STATE HISTORIC SITE TO FEATURE ART EXHIBIT
JEFFERSON CITY, MO., AUG. 30, 2007 -- Arrow Rock State Historic Site will host an art exhibit featuring work by Anna Mae Besgrove Hodge in September. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the exhibit will officially open Sept. 5 in the site's visitor center. An open house and reception for the artist will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Anna Mae Besgrove Hodge, from Kansas City, Mo., has focused her interests in art, historic preservation and archaeology since graduating from Central Missouri University in 1944 with degrees in English and art. This exhibit features her paintings. Hodge has a special interest in Indian culture, which can be observed in her collection of Indian artifacts that are exhibited in three houses she restored in Arrow Rock. Her work with the Historic Arrow Rock Council and the Friends of Arrow Rock have helped make this historical community a vibrant center of the arts.
Arrow Rock State Historic Site's visitor center is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The reception is open to the public. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 15.
