ROCK BRIDGE MEMORIAL STATE PARK
JEFFERSON CITY, MO, AUG. 13, 2007 -- Enjoy a close-up look at some of the amazing creatures that share our world at the Raptor Awareness Program on Friday, Aug. 24, at Rock Bridge Memorial State Park near Columbia. Sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the program is 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the park's Gilbert Shelter House. It is free and open to the public. Advance reservations are required.
Look into the eyes of an owl, feel the breeze of a hawk's wing and watch a raven recycle. This World Bird Sanctuary program will feature live birds, including a hawk, vulture, falcon and owls and will focus on what makes them special. The mission of the World Bird Sanctuary, located near St. Louis, is to preserve the Earth's biological diversity and to secure the future of threatened bird species in their natural environments. The sanctuary works to fulfill that mission through education, captive breeding, field studies and rehabilitation. Reservations can be made by calling the park office.
