Christmas Through the Decades

12/10/2022 | Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site | Ash Grove, MO

Join the staff of Nathan and Olive Boone Homestead State Historic Site in celebrating decades of Christmas past. Travel back in time as you walk to the Boone home and see how the Boone family and residents of Greene County have celebrated Christmas since 1840. Stop by the Boone home to visit with St. Nicholas, smell the cooking of a holiday meal over an open fire, make a 19th century door decoration, and send a wax-sealed letter to Santa Claus. Outside the home, browse Christmas displays sponsored by the History Museum on the Square and the Greene County Archives and Records Center. Then, take a break from the hustle and bustle of the holiday to enjoy a Christmas storybook sponsored by the Springfield-Greene County Library District.

After your visit at the homestead, make new Christmas memories as Historic Downtown Ash Grove continues the celebration at 4 p.m. with the annual Christmas parade and downtown festivities.

These events are free and open to the public. For more information about the Boone Homestead activities, contact the historic site office at 417-751-3266.
