Night Skies Over Buzzard's Roost

8/14/2015 | Mark Twain Birthplace State Historic Site | Florida, MO

Enjoy a midsummer astronomy event and learn about meteors and comets and get a tour of the constellations. The Perseid meteor shower, which peaks in mid-August, is one of the brightest meteor showers of the year and best watched in an area far from urban lights. Bring your camp chairs or blankets to sit on and meet at the Buzzard's Roost Picnic Area. Also bring bug spray and a red-filtered flashlight that will not affect your night vision.
