Fourth of July Celebration Weekend

Friday:

Noon - Petroglyph Glade Tour - Petroglyph Site
This guided interpretive walk highlights two of Washington State Park’s unique features. The walk begins with a tour of the ancient Native American rock carvings and will then venture out into to the glade where visitors will learn about life on this rare landscape. This program will last approximately one hour.

4 p.m. - River Bottom Walk - Thunderbird Lodge
A short hike along the 1,000 Step Trail will give guests the chance to view a wide variety of plant life and learn about the history of Washington State Park and the young men who built it.  The walk will then lead guests along the edge of the Big River to learn just how important this body of water is to the area around it. This program will last approximately one hour.

6:30 p.m. - Bike Safety Program, Decorating and Parade - Campground Amphitheater
Join us to learn the dos and don'ts of bicycle safety to make riding safer and more enjoyable.  Then take some time to decorate your bike. Some supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring any additional supplies you want. Then show off your newly decorated bike in our bike parade!  We will do two laps around the campground. This program will last approximately one hour.

Saturday:

10 a.m. - Staff/Camper Volleyball Game - Campground
Join us for our very first park staff/camper competition: a volleyball game! Enjoy this classic summer fun sport with Washington State Park staff in the campground on a grassy playing surface.  If you don't want to play, you can still join the fun and cheer for your favorite team. This activity will last approximately one hour.

11:30 a.m. - Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest - Campground Amphitheater
Enjoy tasty watermelon provided at the campground amphitheater. Then, take part in a seed spitting competition! Can you spit the seed farther than your friends? See who will win the seed spitting challenge. This activity will last approximately one hour.
