Kansas City Outreach: Dutch Oven Cooking and Hike

5/16/2015

Join Missouri State Parks staff for a trip to Knob Noster State Park. We will be taking a bus from Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, located at 4750 Troost Ave. in Kansas City.

Have you ever wondered how pioneers cooked meals over an open fire? The long tradition of cooking in a Dutch Oven has been around for centuries. Participants will learn about outdoor meal preparation and prepare samples for the group to try. (Please notify staff of any food allergies.)

After lunch, we will enjoy a hike on Discovery Trail. The 1-mile hike will have an array of beautiful wildflowers and winds along part of a creek. Participants will hear different types of birds and learn how to identify them.

Registration is required, and limited space is available. Contact Melissa at 816-759-7313, ext. 1162 to register. Please bring a lunch to enjoy outside. Coolers with ice will be provided for your use. Dress appropriately for activities and the weather.

Event time: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

This event is being held in conjunction with the National Kids to Parks Day. Click here for more information and a complete list of participating facilities within Missouri State Parks.
