Pershing's Last Patriot

5/26/2014 | Gen. John J. Pershing Boyhood Home State Historic Site | Laclede, MO

A special Memorial Day program will be held at the statue of General Pershing on the site. Upon the completion of the program, stick around for an additional program this year. We will be viewing the documentary film "Pershing's Last Patriot," which is based on the life of Frank Buckles, the last Doughboy of the American Expeditionary Force of World War I. The film also details his time as a POW in the Philippines during World War II. The writer/director David DeJonge will be the featured speaker for the program. Dejonge will also host a question and answer session after the film. The Pershing Park Memorial Association will be hosting a barbecue following the viewing in support of their efforts to open the Pershing Memorial Museum and Leadership Archives.
