1/1/2014 | Prairie State Park | Mindenmines, MO
Take a guided bison hike this year. The length and location of the hike will depend on the location of the herd that morning. Be prepared for a two-mile hike over uneven terrain, but it could be longer or shorter. Dress for the weather. The winds on the prairie can be very fierce when coupled with winter temperatures. You will see bison, perhaps deer, short-eared owls, northern harriers and the vast prairie landscape. Hot beverages and snacks will be provided at the nature center following the hike.
Hike time: 10 a.m.
Meeting location: Nature center
This hike is one of many First Day Hikes taking place in Missouri State Parks. For more information about all of your hiking options, click here.
