Museum After Hours: Early Hotels of Jefferson City

Join museum staff member Henry Gensky for a brief history of some of Jefferson City’s early hotels. Learn about the McCarty House, a favorite of many visitors to the capital city, including Senator Thomas Hart Benton. Frank James, brother to Jesse James, was a guest at the McCarty House the night before his surrender to Gov.Crittendon in 1882. Click here to read the news release.

The program will be held in the museum classroom, which is located in the History Hall in the east wing of the State Capitol. This program continues the programming series, "Museum after Hours," which occurs on the first Wednesday of each month. Missouri State Museum galleries stay open until 9 p.m.
