Treasures of the Triangle

7/6/2013 | Knob Noster State Park | Knob Noster, MO

This free program, led by Grant Miller and his friendly, knowledgeable amateur astronomers, known as “the Local Group,” is designed to help beginners learn about and appreciate the night sky. All programs begin with a brief introduction, short astronomy/space lesson, and some questions and answers as the sky darkens. Quality amateur telescopes will be set up to guide visitors through the night sky; a naked-eye laser sky tour will also be presented at each program (dim red light flashlights preferred).

The giant ringed planet Saturn is still awesome; and now the Summer Triangle is rising in the eastern sky at sunset. We will show you the Patriotic Triple (Happy Independence Day!), the Cub Scout Star and the Coat Hangar.

Bring something to sit on. Insect repellent is recommended. The event will be canceled if the weather is overcast or rainy. To find out if the event is canceled, please go to the Knob Noster State Park Facebook page.

Event time: 8:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.
