Canoe Rental

The cabins, dining lodge, store and canoe rental are operated by your concession host, Michael Fleming. Raft, kayak and bicycle rentals are also available. Let Mike or a member of his staff make your visit to Sam A. Baker State Park more enjoyable. For more information about the concession facilities, visit their Web site or call 573-856-4223.

Rentals for float trips are available at the park store. Canoes, one-person sit-on-top kayaks and six-person rafts are available for rent on the scenic and secluded St. Francis River. Big Creek is floatable in high water with kayaks only.

Floats available

St. Francis River (available April through November)
4 miles Put in at the park boat ramp and float to the Hwy. 34 Bridge; approximate time is 2-4 hours. 
offered Sunday through Friday at 11 a.m. and on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sign up at the park store by 10:30 a.m. Pick-up times are 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
14 or 18 miles Put in upstream and float down to the park boat ramp; approximate time is 8-12 hours depending on water level
offered daily at 9 a.m. when water levels permit

Big Creek (kayaks only--available during spring and fall or high water)
Prior to your trip, please contact the concession operator at 573-856-4223 to verify if the water level is suitable for floating.
11 miles Put in at Des Arc and float to the visitor center; approximate time is 4-6 hours
offered daily at 9 a.m.
8 miles Put in at Posten Bridge and float to the visitor center; approximate time is 4-6 hours
