Making the State Park System Accessible

To ensure that the state park system can be used and enjoyed by everyone, a major effort was undertaken to make facilities, activities and programs accessible to all persons, regardless of abilities. Facilities such as campgrounds, showerhouses, picnic areas, fishing docks and other areas have been renovated to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. New programmable aids such as photographs and video presentations allow visitors to have a more full experience. These aids are also available in Braille and on audio tape. As work continues, our parks and sites will become even more accessible. For the most current information on what features are accessible, call the individual park or site or call the department toll free at 800-334-6946 (voice) or 800-379-2419 (Telecommunications Device for the Deaf).
